The world's largest producer of soy beans is currently the United States of America, with approximately 78.9 tons harvested in the year 2000.
This corresponds to about half of the world-wide soy bean production. These enormous quantities mainly grow in the lower parts of the Missisipi delta and in the Mid West. Two thirds are consumed in the United States, one third is exported.
20 percent of the world production come from Brazil, and only 10 percent from China.
